Wednesday's snow leads to fatal crash in Owatonna; several more injured across Minnesota
OWATONNA, Minn. — The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that happened on Interstate 35 in Owatonna amid Wednesday's snowfall.
A pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Owatonna man went off the interstate and into a ditch near Steele County Road 9 at about 7:41 a.m., the state patrol says.
There were two young passengers inside the truck: an infant boy and a 4-year-old girl, who are both from Owatonna.
Sadly the infant boy was killed in the crash.
From midnight through 3 p.m., the state patrol says there were 121 other reported crashes, with 14 involving injuries.
Thirty-two vehicles drove off roadways across the state, while five semis jackknifed in a two-hour span on Interstate 94 near the town of Downer, located a few miles southwest of Moorhead.
